Purely Random

Dear Family,

I love trying to keep you up-to-date on the craziness that is our home. As you all know Chris travels often leaving me little time to keep this baby current. From time to time I will be bombarding this blog with many posts to keep it someone current. I just did a few posts from this summer, they are not in any order! I hope you understand, this mama is one busy chick.

Kylee

We have been talking about getting Julia a kitten of her own for about 6 months. Hazel has always been my cat and she was 21 years old, not really up for playing. We would spend our time sitting quietly with Hazel giving her nice pets.
I wanted Julia to experience playing with a younger cat as well. I wanted her to have something to bond with as she grows, a cat to play with and maybe even cuddle. Having 2 cats wasn’t an issue for us so we talked about getting one for Julia’s second birthday. Things changed and our house got sad missing Hazel so we started looking for a cat. We made several trips to several Humane Societies.
We found Kylee! They said she was 2 but I knew better, she was far too kitten like to be 2! I asked our vet and she said no way was she 2, maybe 6-12 months, not older.

We are working on getting to Julia to not pick her up. Kylee is a great cat and Julia is eager to hold her, she doesn’t hold her well and Kylee panics scratching to get free ( if you saw it you would see how appropriate it is for the cat to want free, yikes!)
We have been telling her that only Mommy and Daddy can pick up Kylee. She still tries, even after being scratched. I went out last night and bought her a large  pink stuffed dog, and we named it Toby. Only Julia can pick up Toby, she can also have Toby sit on her lap if she would like Mommy and Daddy shouldn’t pick up Toby, only Julia.. We will see how that goes. We are working on creative ways to get past continuing problems instead of wasting our time barking at her.

We went to the zoo to meet up with an old friend. Julia started off not feeling very well but seemed to snap out of her funk quickly, just in time to try and hug the brown bears!

The kid fears very few things, I was a little freaked out by these goats, not her!

Good bye to a great friend

A very good friend of ours passed away, Miss Hazel. Hazel has lived with me since I was in high school. She was a wonderful cat and we will miss her very much.
She was very sick and we knew she was going to leave us the following morning so we all took turns giving her great cuddles.
Julia didn’t know what was happening but was thrilled Hazel ( Hagul) was sitting on her lap ( “Hagul, yap?"”)

“Hagul, owwie heart. Heaven”

We love you Hazel and hope you are loving Heaven and giving great leg massages. <3

Children’s Museum

Toddlers consume households. I think that is a fair statement to make. They consume the food and the attention of all in it.  Jules is fun, adorable, brilliant and a handful.

The local children’s museum has every third Sunday free admission. We finally remembered to mark it down on the calendar and head on over.

Our first stop along the way was to visit Ronald McDonald. Julia was in love with the dude. She insisted on sitting on his lap.

Kitties, Cookies and Bells!

Jules and I had a wonderful day today, just the girls’ hanging in the Linden Hills neighborhood. I wanted to take her to Wild Rumpus and we ended up find other fun places to visit as well.

I was more impressed with the fish tank behind the mirror than she was. If the lights were off in the bathroom you could see the tank clearly, turn them on and it was a mirror. I think the magic was lost on her, she just wanted to eat the bubbles in the sink

Jules was thrilled to see a kitty roaming the store, she would seek it out whenever it left our sight. She did so well petting it nicely. It lacked a tail so no worries about pulling.

They have 2 resident chickens, she had no interest in saying hello.

We left the book store and the kid with the amazing memory reminded me that I said we could go to Great Harvest Bread CO. She just said “Eat”. We stroller over and grabbed two enormous cookies and found a nice area to sit and enjoy them with a bit of milk

Before indulging in her cookie, Julia made sure the resident doll was relieved of her thirst by sharing her milk.

This is about 1/3 of the chocolate chip cookie.

Up to something, not sure what but her eyes are saying it’s on the way.

Fun with water. Creative Kidstuff had this fun water table set up just outside their store. We had to leave because she kept drinking the water. We grabbed a  fun cage bell and castanets.

Wonderful day with an amazing child, I am blessed <3
